Be a Kilts & Songs Franchisee
We are confident that we can offer you an excellent opportunity to earn a substantial income by engaging in interesting and rewarding work.
We are seeking around 70 franchisees (approximately 1 per county) plus around 8 in the Greater London area.
Building Your Customer Base
Most franchisors carve the country into much smaller areas and look for 1,000 franchisees or more. Our approach is different. For the most part, we aim to have 1 franchisee in each county (approximately) – so about 70 franchisees.
This will be your own business.
Financial
Affordable Entry, Transparent Pricing:
Franchise Fee: £1,000
Monthly Rent: £40
With every franchise I’ve ever known there was a franchise fee (which is usually considerable – often over £20,000), and an additional monthly amount which is often a percentage of sales – typically about 10% of sales or income.
We may describe the additional amount as ‘rent’.
Twenty years ago or so I was looking round for a franchise opportunity, and there was virtually nothing under £10,000 – in fact not much under £20,000. And most franchisors carved the country up into much smaller bits.
Support and Earnings Potential
We will advertise quite widely. All customer enquiries in your area are passed directly to you.
The Ideal Person
The ideal person to run this franchise in their area could well be a single person, either a man or a woman, almost certainly under 50.
We are willing to consider people from all walks of life.
Ideally, we would like to find people who can use their own sizeable property – with either a very spacious main room, or 2 smaller rooms, and 2 bedrooms, so one can be used for changing. The alternative is to rent space, which can be expensive.
The person (couples also considered, of course) should be gregarious, outgoing, with a good personality.
If you are able to use your own place, apart from the franchise fee of £1,000, the capital required is minimal.
You will perhaps need three or four 3-seater sofas and some ordinary chairs. Really nice sofas can be bought quite cheaply from some places – I was looking at some today for £550. Of course, if you buy second hand they can be very cheap.
These days you will probably have to have a decent coffee machine producing real coffee of all types – so maybe another £300.
Music of all types can be provided very cheaply – £150 or so should cover that.
In short I don’t see why you necessarily need more than £2,500 in total (plus the Franchise Fee).
What You Need To Be Good At
Unfortunately the traditional methods of advertising don’t usually work anymore.
These days social media is the thing, so the primary accomplishment that the ideal person or people will have is that they are competent at social media, preferably more than one type.
Do I Need To Be Scottish?
No, you don’t need to be Scottish – though of course you would be very welcome if you are. Ideally, you would have a Scottish connection and an enthusiasm for Scottish culture, including the wearing of kilts.
Income
As you will see from the website, the entrance fee to a party will be £10.
So if 20–25 people paid a £10 entrance fee that would be £200–£250 income per party. You may have to spend up to £50 in providing refreshments.
We envisage that there may be parties on 3 or maybe even 4 evenings a week.
So if thought of as a full-time income, it’s not that bad.
But really, we’re not necessarily expecting you to give up your day job: and as a part-time income it’s very good indeed.
